Tako Deli and Cupcakes by Athina - A Beautiful Combination to Make You Ask for More

As you may have guessed by the headline, today’s food review is about Takoyaki and cupcakes. But before anything else, here’s a bit of trivia for you. We all know that Takoyaki originated in Japan, in Osaka, to be exact, by a street food vendor named Tomekichi Endo. Did you know that it’s just a prototype of another street food called  Choboyaki ? It has similar ingredients with Takoyaki except that it’s flat-rectangle instead of balls.  But wait, there’s more! The ball shape of Takoyaki actually got from yet another Japanese street food,  rajioyaki , which has beef fillings instead of octopus cuts. Takoyaki was born when Endo replaced the beef fillings with octopus cuts and retained the ball shape. Interesting, huh? Takoyaki was first adapted to the Philippines by Sweet Corner Food Kiosks in 2014, and it has been all over the country since. Now, on to the review. A friend of mine knows how much I love Takoyaki, and since we have minimal interactions these days, she sent me some

Yes! That's right! Savor the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee traveling through your senses and waking up every sleeping nerve in your body. Coffee lovers can relate! 🙋🙋🙋 But lo and behold! Not all types of coffee can give you the same effect. But before we get into that, here's a couple of trivia for you: Did you know that the Philippines ranks 32 in the  world's top coffee producers , and Lipa City is the coffee capital of the Philippines? 😳 So, if you've been drinking coffee all your life and can call yourself a coffee connoisseur, you'll know if it's genuine kapeng barako from Lipa, right? Because I do. I knew right off the bat that Mrs. Beans was not kidding when she said her coffee is 100% legit! It's the pure barako taste I've been looking for all those years, and I'm glad I finally found it. Yeah, yeah, I know you'll probably say that all coffees taste the same. Wrong! I'm not talking about instant coffees because, obviously,

PANN Ya - A Little Piece of Heaven in Every Bite

Have you ever felt you’ve been to heaven and back to earth still feeling elated? That’s exactly how I felt the first time my teeth sank into this beautiful ube bibingka right there. Mind you - I’ve tried every popular bread and pastry product out there - Contis, French Baker, Tous Les Jours, Boulangerie22, you name it, I’ve tried it. I’m a bread addict. But because of the pandemic, things have changed with my addiction since I couldn’t go out as often as I did to buy my favorite brands. So, one day, as I was craving for some sinful goodness, I scoured the internet, and voila! I found this beauty online! I placed my order immediately and got it the following day. Trust me when I say that I’ve never tasted anything like this before. It’s indeed a little piece of heaven in every bite. Those bits and pieces of ube (purple yam) were evenly spread on the dough that you’ll feel and taste every time you bite on it. The dough is fluffy and just pure ube taste, without the hint of flour fl
